Question Regarding Some Marks.

Hello everyone,

I am a 21 year old male who recently has put on alot of weight really fast. I have put on nearly 40 pounds in 7 months and have gotten a TON of stretch marks. There are alot on my stomache and my chest, some near my groin and legs.

I had a question about some marks on my back. They are near my left shoulder ad appear to be very faint but noticeable marks. They are longer than the ones on my abdomen and there are 3 of them running diagonally and horizontally.

Should this be of concern? I am going to my doctor on monday but just wanted a peace of mind.

Sometimes we can have stretch marks on one side of the body and not the other. This is kind of hard w/o a picture but I would say those marks on your shoulder are also stretch marks. Like I said, w/o a picture...Let us know how you are doing. Sincerely, searchin

I'm assuming it's rapid weight gain of the unhealthy kind as you couldn't gain 40 poulds of muscle in that time. I think you need to look to why that gain has happened and lose weight, because that rate of gain is not sustainable and marks on your skin would be the least of your concerns if it continues...

Good luck.

I went to my doctor and yes it was stretch marks. It was fro alot of unhealthy weight gain due to stress and over eating. Thanks for your assistance.

I'm glad you got the answers you needed from your doctor. What stress do you speak of? You can alter your habits. I mean, you do not have to eat when you are stressed. Replace the stress with fresh air by stepping outside of your comfort zone for just one minute at a time. Just take it easy...you'll get it. Let me know how you are. Sincerely, searchin

It was alot of family issues, stress from my mom, I almost moved out. Also financial stress, I need money from University but need to work as well so can't go full-time and thus couldn't get OSAP. Just an abundance of issues. I am working towards getting back into shape, I binge ate today after a week so I was proud of that.

I am proud of you also! Keep trying and you will get there before you know it. It has taken me quite some time to even start to try to get back into shape even tho' I hate the shape I am in right now. Slow and steady... Sincerely, searchin
