Question re Suzuki M50 handlebar reach

I don't own an M50, but have been to the local Suzuki dealer to check these out.

One thing I noticed is that I feel like I'm reaching a bit for the handlebars, slightly leaned forward. It doesn't exactly feel comfortable.. and I've read alot online saying similar things.

In fact I found a whole thread on here about riser spacers that one of the members was making up to late last year.

Assuming there are obviously options, as far as risers, spacers, or different handlebars. I'm curious specifically which, if any, onwers here have done -- specific brands/sizes of risers, handlebars or spacers. I'd like to have an idea what the options are and how well they work.

??

We ordered C 50 bars for the Hobo's M 50. They will apparently fit and not need new cables and such if everything is rerouted. Will be finding out for sure in the near future.

Finally got to test drive one yesterday, and as awesome as it was, just going around a few blocks, I could feel it in my forearms and elbows.

Sadly, I think this bike is ruled out. To get more the look of that, I think it would make more sense to get the C50, and maybe put some custom fenders on it. Then the ergonomics are better, and a known quantity before the purchase.

The reach question is very personal and really needs a reasonable ride to determine one's level of comfort.

For me, I preferred the M50's over the C50's handlebar position - mainly due the narrower bars on the M50.

Yeah.. I was talking to an old friend over lunch who happens to now work at a dealership. Good guy - we met when we were both in high tech.

Anyway, he took a few minutes to talk about various types of bikes and riding positions, from sport to standard to types of cruisers etc etc. It was good because it helped to put all of this into perspective for me.

It is really just a matter of preference, and recognizing that "it is what it is".

Specifically, for a sport cruiser, he pointed out that the leaning forward position can give you more control at higher speeds (considering other factors too such as windshield...) because youre leaning into the wind as it is pushing you back.
