Question on the Harry Potter book series?

A friend and I are having a stupid argument over whether Harry Potter is given/does homework over the summer at any point during his first 7 years at Hogwarts.

Yes he does!!
I mnot sure wht book ...
maybe the fourth...
but i remember him doing homework at privet drive
it was a long essay set by proffessor Snape.
i think he also studied as well (i don't know if that counts as home work but i sure think it is!!)
i don't really know the exact details but i m pretty, absolutely sure he did!!
^_^

I'm pretty sure he had some reading and writing assignments, but no magical practice as children are forbidden from doing magic outside of Hogwarts.

Yes. There are a few times in the books where Harry has worked on essays during his summer holidays. I also seem to recall Hermione mentioning summer essays. All the work is essay related as they are not allowed to use their wands (and for muggle-born children it likely isn't easy nor safe to use a cauldron over the summer) so they get essays.

However it is safe to assume that Harry did not always do them or wound up having to leave them till the very last minute because the Dursleys would lock his things up during the summer because of their anti-magic attitude.

Yes, he does. No spells, obviously, but there is definitely a scene at the beginning of one of the books (the third or fourth) where Harry's at the Dursleys' writing an essay about the Salem witch trials.

I don't believe so, because underage wizards aren't allowed to do magic outside of school so I don't quite understand how they would be able to practice.

Why the freak would he?
Harry is a freaking King of Men

even if he did have to

*nudge to Hermione*

I remember some books were Harry talks about essay's that a teacher assigned over the summer, or books he has to read, so I think so.
