QUESTION ON PIT BIKE RACING CDI?

I replacing my old cdi with a new racing cdi and it is awesome so much better throttle response and it just fells so much quicker off the line but I have heard different storys about how they could blow up my motor and then I have heard some people say they wont. I have a 140cc piranha engine its not a stock motor its a nice expensive engine so id really like to get your guys opinion on it and see what you guys think thanks
