question on my 03 honda 400ex piston?

i have an 03 honda 400ex.I was thinking about getting installing a 440 big bore kit , But i was told by a local atv mechanic that he didn't recommended a big bore because then i would have issues with the piston getting messed up. So he told me i should install a high compression piston,which he will charge me $700 parts and labor. so far my current mods are k&n air filter,dynoget gets, yoshimaura exhaust, my question is, is that a good price for the high compression piston ? I want to get the most power out of my quad.
 
high compression piston will not make alot of power, 426 kit wont make alot of power, 440kit wont make a lot of power. Now a 440 kit W/edilbroch carb, web cam, HD clutch springs, and porting, It will take a little longer for a stock 450r to pass you.
