"A presidential election that results in defeat of the party in power usually indicates the failure of the party in power to have dealt effectively with the nation's problems."

8 elections from 1932 where we changed parties: 1932, 1952,1960, 1968, 1976, 1980, 1992, 2000

Using 1968 and any other one of these, discuss to what extent the above statement is true.

I am stuck on this essay question. PLEASE HELP ME!

In 1968 a new party came into power. You need to research the problems at the time and draw some conclusions as to why that happened. Then, you need to pick one other of these election years and do the same thing. Why do you think the party in power was kicked out?

Using the answers you found through your research, you need to draw a conclusion. Did a change in power mean that the presiding power failed to help the country? IT's not a yes or no answer.

Here's some information on 1968:

Here's one on 1932:

You are of course free to pick any election -- I just randomly picked 1932.

When you've finished your essay, feel free to post it for critique!
