Question on connection on back of car stereo...?

My Kenwood stereo just bit the dust (It won't turn on. I checked the fuse and the connections for the stereo). I'm thinking of buying a JVC. I've got a 1999 Ford ZX2, and *vaguely* remember buying an adapter to connect my Kenwood to the car's audio cables. Does the adapter also fit a JVC, or would I need to buy a new one (or a Kenwood stereo)?
