Question on bug bites...

Do spider usually hurt or itch? Do they usually look like mosquito bites? I woke up this morning and had 3 itchy bites and the amazing thing is, my house stays clean!! I know that even the cleanest houses can have bugs and spiders but to wake up with 3 bites??? I'm just not sure what to do for the bites because I don't know what they are. They are just round red bumps that itched at first and now they don't but it doesn't look too pretty!:dizzy:

A lot depends on the kind of bug, and if you are allergic to it, or if it is poisonous. For instance, a mosquito bite is far different than a spider bite. If you see any signs of redness, swelling, possible infection, or a reaction to the bite, I would see your doctor. If it is just itchy, put some vinegar on it, or w i t c h hazel.

you really can't tell at first.. after a few days the mosquito bite will subside, but a spider bite (depending on the spider and your reaction) tends to last longer. I had a spider bite (non-poisonous) on my face and the welt lasted over a month! If you see the reaction start to spread, or if it starts to open up like a sore, THAT is when you get your butt to the doctor. Otherwise put some hydrocortisone cream on it if it itches, or like writeleft, use witch hazel to dry it up.

How large are the bites? I have never had a spider bite (knock on wood), but I hear that they are usually a little more tender rather than itchy, and often do look a little more like a sore rather than a red bump. I get bitten by mosquitoes quite often and do find that ant bites can be a little more tender for me. Also, I used to have a mild ant allergy that I grew out of it. The bites would swell up to about 2 inches in diameter and would harden. Luckily this hasn't been happening anymore.

If the bites are very small and are three in a row very close to one another, these are often caused by bed bugs. They nickname these kinds of bites "breakfast, lunch, and dinner." The bug will move on and bite the next spot, and the next, when they get interrupted (for example, you move in your sleep). Hopefully these aren't the case! I have had these similar bites before but could never find any signs of bed bugs. Now I have a new mattress and this time around bought a special cover to help with allergies, so I better not have any bed bugs!
