Question for everyone

I went from a 1098 to a 2005 999. The brakes on the 1098 were insane. The brakes on the 999, though probably much better than any jap 4, leave alot to be desired compared to the 1098. What's the big difference between the two? 1098's are monbloc and what is the 999's?

Reason I ask is because I'd like to now pick up som monbloc calipers for the 999. Seen them on line from a few private sellers asking from 700-900. Is that a good price?

Thanks

Besides the calipers, the rotors are 330mm vs. the 320mm on your 999. More than that is probably the pads. I had 999 4-pad calipers on my 944SS and M900 and LOVED them. Of course I had good pads. If the 2005 999 is used you might want to pull the pads and lightly sand them with 400gr paper. Clean them with brake cleaner and reinstall. I bet this makes a big difference. If it doesn't, try some new pads with a more aggressive compound.

+1. Great call Ducati Rider.

If you want the mono bloc for the bling? Go for it. It cool shit. If you want to stop better, try what DR sugested.

Good luck.

Remember, there is a bleeder inside the reservoir, 6 mm open end wrench and right into the fluid to crack open that black screw, if you didn't know about this you are in for a treat.
