Question: Cricket no longer allowing flashed phones to access web on new acts?

I got this from a corporate store manager:

"Also there is something you should know about the flashed phones, we recently changed our systems and all flashed phones no longer can have access to the web. You may want to advise your customers, basically there is no reason for a full flash- "

My Flashed phone's web still works, so I must assume she is talking about new acts.

I have noticed that more and more customers with flashed phones are having issues with no outgoing text, no pix or web (the web always says "you must be a mobile web subscriber to access the web). Then we get account refreshed and feature codes for text, web, mms re-added and it works.

Anyone have any new information on this?
Thanks

she also says this: "any new customers will not be able to have web access on our new plans. The existing customers are ok, if they don’t change the rate plan and already have web access…."

It's real easy........

Juts activate under kyocera m6000 an choose the 60z plan, which is actually the the $55 android plan an ur fully flash phones will get web working properly right off the bat. What we are doing is letting customers know if the want advace web they need to be on that plan. If customer don't care than just put them not the 45.

Cricket is doing this because they say that their is a lot of fully flashed smart phones out there consuming way too much data an that they are loosing money........

Its not that easy. I've been trying for a week now to get under the m6000 and they will not do it. Now if you know someone who can do that for me please send them my way.

If u go to a cricket store where they know how to do it they can. I work at a cricket dealer an we've been doing it for over a week. So if u are a cricket dealer or are friends with one it is that easy. Plus I'm just trying to help.

Oh I know you are trying to help. Its just the frustration kicking in. Nice to know because I was planning on leaving Cricket if they started that all that nonsense. Thanks

Shorty, you are helping a great deal thanks. I had another question. Previously, when a new customer would sign up with a flashed phone, all they had to do if web and text didnt work is have account refreshed and the individual features re-added. If a customer signs up with a flashed phone on the $45/$40 plan, is it possible to restore web capability to that line of service? Is there a way around this besides getting the spendier plan?
Thanks

No because they are actually not going to be provisioning or refreshing any account with the new plans on a flash phones. So u will actually need to get the 55 android plan. U might get away with it rit now but they are eventually going to stop. Yeah i know it suds , but when u explain to customers they understand, plus they get faster data speeds than the other plans.

I am gonna call bs on this for now. Corp store managers are not a really good source contrary to what they might tell you. Flashing is a HUGE part of Cricket's customer base and a good many customers come to Cricket because they dont have to buy a phone. A flashed phone activation costs Cricket a lot less than a phone they are subsidizing and selling new.

Our corp store here is saying the same crap to customers but the indirect account manager says it's all bs too. I think the corp stores are saying this because the dealers are selling more phones and they are trying to up their sales.

my 2 cents.

First I'm not Corp nor indirect Im just someone who flashes an repairs phones for a living an so far the only way I've gotten Internet on flashed phones to work properly is using the 55 android plan. Yes u can call customer service to have ur account provision but that will stop. Maybe it is bs but right now if u don't want to have issues with ur fully flashed blackberry , android, or winmo phones I recommen u put this plan. Also just a quick note vie seen a lot of customers that are on the previous 40 an 45 plan have started to see issues with Internet an pics stop working. I have refreshed an provision an it works for a couple of days than it stops aging but once I change the plan all my troubles go away.

I have always had to have features provisioned after starting a new acct. WAP and generally MMS so this is nothing new, and I highly doubt cricket would cut off their nose to spite their face. All that you need to do is if they are on the $45 plan is call and have the WAP and MMS feature provisioned to the account and have them refresh these services as well for good measure! happy flashing!

Just how does Cricket know its a flashed phone? If it's not listed as a flashed phone in CID how will they know? It's not like they can magically detect a flashed phone.

So what the big deal? :silly:
