Question about Zelda Storyline *spoilers up to beginning of water temple*

I kinda had an ADD moment in these story twists...

How did the zora prince's mother die, did she just pass away or was she executed by Vant's guys?

Also, i seriously did not get what the story the water god was telling about the Triforce, Sacred Realm, etc. Its a lot different then the one in Ocarina of Time. I mean i see Illa suddenly try to attack Link with a dagger and then i see 3 Dark links as the bad guys, but i thought Vant was supposedly the cause of all this.

Vant's people killed her infront of all the zora's to make an example.

The Lanayru spirit said that an ancient race mastered magic and tried to conquer the world, but the 3 godesses sealed their magic and banished them to another realm. The rest of the story is still canon afaik.
