Question about using Tmobile as an ISP and AOL

Hello everyone,

When I use Tmobile (connected to out laptops and try to send email using the AOL my Mail login and not the AOL software) we can not send email without the aol spam message that makes us enter a series of visual numbers/letters - very annoying. Also it will not allow you to send email using outlook through aol servers. Does anyone know of a work around?

If we use any other isp works fine so the issues are with aol.

Thanks for your time

Just one more good example of the fine skills out there in the hands of the wrong people. They can very effectively protect us from ourself. I have a cable provider that won't let me use my own mail server as outgoing email due to spam issues, I also have had trouble in some environments using Outlook and Tbird due to "Spam Protection" and the fun goes on. But, just checked my work email, found it full of #@$%%^ spam - close to 60 since last night (all pretty much the famous five that most everyone gets), and nobody seems more than marginally able to stop it. Good luck on the aol deal, but this is a much bigger deal than that and they probably will tell you the same as my cable company did that there is no workaround and that is just the way it is.

I worked for AOL and was laid off due to outsorcing in tech, and now I work for the Blackberry department at TMO. Here is what I think the root cause is: for many email accounts your outgoing server has to be that of the isp (in this case RIM/Tmo). An example of this is when I am at school, my outgoing server is through the school. When I am at home, my outgoing server is through my isp. If I do not go into outlook to change this, I can not send email (although I recive emails fine.) So, the only way to send email is to somehow have rim (or maybe TMO) be your outgoing server; I do not belive you are going to be able to do this, but you can try. Some email servers don't need to have this set up, because they support what I belive is called "migration," (although I could be wrong on the termanolgy.) Aol will not help you in this set up (they only support the client. KW:imap is your only resource in aol.) For windows mobile device, we get around this problem with aol, by setting up TMO as the outgoing server. This is done my going to the "myemail setup" at mytmobile.com. Try changing your phone to a windows mobile phone to get the correct options (remember this is not the set up my blackberry email.") From there add your aol account and disable notifications. Next, goto you outgoing server on outlook and set it up as "myemail.t-mobile.com" Make the username for your outgoing server your mobile number:1 so, it would look like this. 5555555555:1. Your outgoing server password will be your email password and you must check that the outgoing server requires authentication.
This is the only thing that might work for you. TYou may not have access to "myemail," so this may not work, or you may have to have rim as the out going server, so this may not work. but it is something to try! Good luck, and repost if you have questions!!!!
