Question about used "track" bikes...

Forgive my ignorance, but I need some help on this one. Why do people seem to stay away from track bikes when purchasing used? Higher probability of being dropped? More stressed/abused due to rapid shifting?

I am interested in several bikes and 1 of them happens to be a track setup. All the parts can be replaced for road use, but I wanted a little feedback to decide whether to keep it in the running for my upcoming purchase. Seller seems nice and professional, just covering my bases.

Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with a well taken care of track bike. I know many track riders, incl. myself who pamper their dedicated track bikes more than their street bikes.

Many track bikes have salvage titles, so this is something to pay attention to.
Other than that you should thoroughly check
brakes - worn, warped, blue, cracked?
clutch - slipping?
sprockets and chain
alignment of front and rear wheel - good indicator of frame damage
steering head and bearings - play?
motor mounts - cracks?
