It's been a couple of months since I posted here. I finally had my upper endoscopy today. The results were:

1. Diminutive nodule proximal to the esophageal inlet opposite the right arytenoid.
2. Normal esophagus
3. Gastric mucosal abnormality characterized by erythema. Biopsied.
4. Normal examined duodenum

I think we all get freaked out by the word BIOPSY! My knowledge is that they biopsy anything that does not look perfectly normal; partially for liability, but also there can be lots of other reasons why an area is swollen (why they did the biopsy). When I had my endoscopy, the dr. did a biopsy and of course I couldn't wait for them to get that tube out of my mouth so I could as WHY? WHAT DID YOU SEE? He said just what I said--"We took a piece b/c if was a bit red...I'm 99% sure it's nothing". He had an intern with him and she said that he was one of the best in the country (this was Canada) and to trust him...two days later he called me at 7 am to tell me everything was fine as he knew I was stressed.....so remeraber, biopsy doesn't mean just looking for cancer. THe waiting is the hard part......try to stay positive.......

Thanks for responding DrabF. My doc said the same thing about #1 and #3. He said "I'm 99% sure it's nothing." Do you know if it's safe to take Maalox on the same day after having the EGD? I can't stand the gas pains.
