When Grandpa goes crazy in church Marge writes it down on the board and one of them says 1000 eyes at what point is there 1000 eyes there is not 1000 eyes on the mutated creature and there are not one thousand eye looking things taking the dome over springfield i have been scratching my head over this ever since i first saw it.
 
It's to do with the ratty thing that gets contaminated by the waste towarRAB the beginning. In the original drafts, it was supposed to have 1000 eyes, but it arrived not very spectacular from the animators, so they just left it.

Obviously, somone doesn't listen to the commentary. :o:D
