Question about the Gundam series.

If that's an obstacle, then have her killed. You could always argue that those who felt Axis shouldn't have left grew tired of her leadership and wanted another war. There are more than enough options available for Sunrise to bridge any continuity gaps.

You would just need to change one or two lines in the CCA movie, perhaps adding some scrolling text, before releasing a new edition.

I think you're severely underestimating Haman's presence in the UC Gundam universe. With the background information on her and Axis, the re-write would be worse than Destiny.

Not only that, Axis was the clear victor of the three-way Gryps war with AEUG down to a single ship and most of their pilots dead or MIA, and the Federation lost the entire chain of command in one fell swoop (and giant lasered, again). Suddenly they need to politically buy an asteroid from the Federation while in hiding?

Even if people don't like ZZ in comparison to Zeta, it did explain why the Zeons were in the state they were in for Char's Counterattack.

That was just a quick example. I'm sure a professional could come up with a better and much more detailed alternative chronology.

The additional factors you've referenced would have to be addressed, one way or another, but my point is simply limited to stating that the formal possibility exists. None of us are going to be held responsible for making any of the necessary changes actually happen.

And since you brought up Destiny, it's interesting to note that the modified Special Edition was actually an improvement.

Improvement, maybe but that's the equivalent of putting lipstick on a piece of turd. The only real difference is in Athrun's POV which is moot since he's on Kira's side anyway in the end. (Also, he flasrabroadacks Natarle's death. What the what?)

The main point of my posts were that the movies are in good fun, but putting them as canon is not possible without a severe reboot on the rest of the UC universe.

Sort o' a big difference...the series and ZZ have been the main interpretation for 20 years. Any revision to the SEED stuff...really isn't as big, in comparison.

As for the films' place in canon...they weren't made to fit in correctly with CCA. That's pretty obvious.

Yes, this isn't really the main purpose of the current topic so I'll leave it at that after replying to a couple of things.

I suppose that's right, but at least it makes for a slightly better watch.

I'll have to agree that they're certainly not canon as things stand now, strictly speaking.

I simply don't think it's physically impossible to reconcile them with the bulk of CCA, given a bit of alternate continuity.

I agree that someone who is new to the Gundam franchise should probably watch the Zeta movies after the series.

;_; Yeah guys, I just wanted to know what was a good Gundam to watch to keep me interested. Something is telling me to just watch 00 for now. >_> You crazy fans and your timelines!

Hey, watching 00 would actually be good for you, more likely than not, so that's fine by me.

In all seriousness...in spite of the recent digressions there have been other valid suggestions earlier in the topic.

Outside of the Universal Century, you can pretty much start anywhere you want and make your way up (or down).
