Question about the fuel injection on the C-90...........

A week or so ago, I purchased a used 2006 Suzuki C-90 with 2,000 miles on it. Just before I bought it, the former owner had some small independent motorcycle shop install Cobra pipes...short staggered Dragsters #3620 pipes. When I first drove the C-90, I noticed lots of popping on deceleration.

Today, I took the C-90 to the local Suzuki dealer because they thought that they could do what they referred to as a "Yushi Tune" on the bike and possibly eliminate most of the popping on deceleration. They were successful in eliminating most of the popping, but there is still some popping. They told me that I will always have some popping because of the short pipes.

Questions: 1. Is the dealer correct in stating that I will always have some amount of popping on deceleration because the pipes are short? 2. Would the "Power Command" or Cobra "Fi2000" enable me to fine tune the bike even better than what the dealer did today?

I am of the opinion that the dealer programed the computer for the bike to run just a tab richer, but still possibly on the lean side...just a guess on my part. I can not see any difference in performance after the "Yushi Tune" done today. Any input would be much appreciated. Alamo Biker :)

An aftermarket FI control computer might help some (can't say for sure as I have never heard your bike and don't know how much popping you have) but some popping is inevitable with short pipes. The aftermarket computer generally has other advantages also though, not just the reduction in popping, especially if you get one that is infinately adjustable so you can play with things as you see fit without having to pay for a remap every time you change something. So you might want to get one if you are planning on aftermarket air filters or other performance mods, or if you think you might ever want to change to different pipes.

I would like to thank you folks for giving me some input on the problem that I have encountered...the information that you have provided points me in the right direction. I will now need to learn about the after market fuel processing computers like the Power Commander. Again, thank you and please have a great day! Alamo Biker :)
