I assume that vegetation like trees developed before 'living' things like animals... is this true? How did vegetation and trees first start to grow on the earth? If the earth was initially made of non-living matter, how did such an incredibly diverse array of vegetation develop on the earth? Was this vegetation instrumental, or at all important, to the development of actual living life (like animals)? What are the chances that the proper types of vegetation developed on this planet that life was able to form? Or did life only form because this planet was lucky enough to get the right types of vegetation? I'm generally interested/confused about how vegetation then life first developed on the earth.
