Question about Runes of Magic?

I just recently started playing RoM and got a few questions.. first one is are there more players the farther you get in the game? It seems like theres no one to ever play with.. I use to play runescape alot and could easily find someone to go questin/training with and i had my friends listy full. on RoM i dont even have anyone on my friends list. any answers will be helpful
