Question about publishing a book?

So I was wondering if authors are allowed to go under an alias or a pen name. I want to publish my story, (I am going to finish it), but I am 14, and I was wondering if it was possible to go under a pen name if I do get published.

I also had a question about the front cover, even though that should be my least concern. But does the author have any input on what they want the front cover to look like?

so if anyone can help me out that would be great!

If you're lucky, your publisher will allow you to have minor input on the cover. Most times, titles and covers are totally up to the publisher: they'll choose whatever seems more commercial for them.

Anyone can go under a pen name. However, it doesn't make it easier to get a book published. Publishers are very picky about new authors, because it's taking a risk. They invest money in that author, and if the book doesn't sell, they'll lose their investiment. Therefore, it's very, very, very, very , very rare for publishers to invest in authors who are young, especially younger than 18. It almost never happens. You can send query letters out and manuscripts, but don't be upset if you don't get picked up.
