Question about porting android applications

Can't you just download it again from the Market? Or the same website you got it from?

Anyway, you might be able to do this by using My Backup (or My Backup Pro?). Backup your app on the phone that has the app on it, take the SD card out, put it in your other phone, and restore the backup on there. Or you can unzip the app (the .apk file) out of the backup zip that My Backup creates, and copy it onto your other phone's SD card and use any file manager off the Market to load it. Or you can copy the .apk file to a web server somewhere and access it via the Android browser.

CityId is no longer available on the Market. The app was pulled. It is a standard offering on the HTC Droid Incredible and I wish to copy it from my friend's Incredible to my Moto Droid.

If it's not an app you can install/uninstall then the only way to copy it is by rooting your phone so you have access to the internal applications that come with the phone. You'd probably be better looking for a copy online, or on the developer's website.

No, titanium backup and mybackup should still be able to pull the apk, then run restore on your phone, selecting only citiid.

Hrm - well when I run My Backup Pro it only pulls the APKs of the apps I've installed (free apps, because I'm not rooted). All the ones that came bundled with it like GMail, Contacts, and the T-Mobile UK related ones are not in the backup zip. So I figured it's because the bundled apps are on the partition along with the OS, and not the internal storage partition with the other apps. Could be wrong though.
