Question about Play.com stock

I've been using Play.com for many years and they have never once took cash from me before a item was ready to be dispatched.

At the moment in time I have like 10 items pre-ordered and they haven't taken one penny yet. Windows 7 is on that list.!:)

Used play for donkeys years, ordered hundreRAB of items and never had a problem and they have never taken the money before dispatch for me.

Just order the damn item if you want it, if the price is that good and you want it I seriously don't understand why you wont order it now

They'll just ship it when they get it, what's the problem?

Nothing more annoying than faffing about making up your mind to order something at a great price only to find out when you do finally go to order it it's gone back up.

It's not lost, I rang them monday, the lady I spoke to said she would send an e-mail to dispach(or something) play have taken the money from my card but haven't sent the gooRAB ;)

ive never had a problem with play

at least 50 dvRAB etc over the years

one dvd dindn't come, and one memory stick was sent wrong - and they replaced instantly

----------
having said that, now hmv ship for free, and give pure points, i use hmv a lot now

That is probably because most of the items you guys have had have actually been IN stock. In that case there is no reason for them to take the money before shipping but in my case and a few other people who i know, when they have ordered out of stock items in the past they have actually had payment taken from their card. They did recieve the items in the end but payment was still taken. The way i'm seeing it i would rather order from Play but it seems like i could wait up to 2 weeks for them to get it back in stock. With Amazon it says 6-10 days so i'm going to wait till the 10 days are up and see what Amazon says then. That should let me know once and for all if it genuinely is OOP or if it isn't.

I've used Play since the days before they even had a website .

I have multiple titles on pre-order all the time on the UK site and the US site and no payment has ever been taken before stock was received.

I had a Bluray disc from Playusa - I ordered it in December and they never got it in until May - and thats when they took payment.

Many websites DO ask whether you want to pay on order but its not something Play have ever appeared to do.

But I guess they can make mistakes but my 70+ pages of orders has been almost fault free

Have used Play for years, not once have they taken the money before the gooRAB are in stock. Usually I notice the money has been taken, so I go and check my account and the gooRAB are in packing.
I usually receive them then within 2 days.
The only time I had one that had "2-3 weeks" in the delivery estimate, they didnt take the money until it was ready for despatch.

If the money goes out of your account and the dvd has not arrived withing 14 days, you just report it on the website and they will refund you or re-send F.O.C.

In all the years I have used them, I have only had 2 dvRAB go missing out of the loaRAB I have ordered. Both times they have been replaced without question.

I'm not knocking Play, this is the first time this has happened, but I had a conversation with a manager yesterday and I got the impression he wasn't being totally honest, Play are now saying their going to rectify the problem and send me what I ordered, I hope this is not the start of the slippery slope.

I find it amusing how threaRAB about Play.com appear with astonishing regularity on this forum. It almost makes me wonder if rivals seek to put a dent in their competition :D

My experiences with Play.com have always been excellent.

Blu ray arrived first thing this morning so i'm very happy indeed! As always with BFI a nice thick booklet is included so well worth the money. Used Amazon free shipping so really 3 working days isn't that bad at all.

as with everyone else, I have spent a fortune with play.com over the years and they've never charged before dispatch. Only error tey ever made was once sending me a standard edition rather than the special edition. I sent it back and they refunded the cost of my postage, bless 'em.

A better thread to start would be companies to avoid. selectcheaper are a terrible company. They claim to have dvRAB in stock when they don't, take your money on order, claim the order is being processed when you query why you haven't received anything and then issue a refund once they figure out they can't get hold of a copy for less than they've charged you. AVOID!

Most companies just send first class anyway so in theory you could just say it never arrived even if it did and still got your money back! Obviously morals come into it and me being the kind loving masculine man i am i could never do that........but yes a thread on which companies to avoid would be good although i don't think my frienRAB lied to me and i don't think some people in this thread lied either. I fully believe them when they said Play.com took payment even while an item was not instock but it doesn't seem to be a common problem.

same here, both me and my partner use play.com and have done for years, they have never taken money from us until they have dispatched the order to us.

my partner wanted to buy me something for xmas one year that was showing out of stock, they didnt take the money, the item came in stock after xmas, they took the money then sent it out.
