Question about Play.com stock

I've seen a film i want on Play.com but it says usually dispatched in 1-2 weeks. I should also point that it is a blu ray and the price has been dropped to
 
i am not sure i can help you really, but just that i am wary of using play, because like you said they take your money before dispatch, and also once you have given payment details they store them and you are unable to delete them - not good in the age of credit card fraud and hacking
 
never happened with me, I've had a film on pre-order for 3 weeks, dispatched it on Thursday and took money on Thursday too...have never known play to take the money until the order is ready to send
 
Play never take payment before a film is in stock.
If it takes 1-2 weeks then chances are its on the deleted list so check out Amazon or their market sellers or even Playtraders.

Saying 1-2 weeks means it's not in stock now. Same with CD's. Better to order from somewhere that says it's in stock now, even if you pay a bit more!
 
Well like i said there were a few titles released recently which also seem to be 'out of stock'. I know the rumour with Salo, which was released a few months before Red Desert was that it was now OOP. I dont think you can compare these films with new releases and they aren't going to sell many and they are aimed at genre fans and collectors but they do have amazing HD transfers so i'd love to get them at this price. At this point i refuse to pay for them elsewhere if there is a chance i could get it cheap. I can just keep checking everyday.
 
I've used Play for years and have never had any problems. They don't take my dough until the product has been shipped, this has always been the case for me anyway.
 
Same here. I don't knew where the OP gets this notion that they take your money as soon as you order:confused:

If you order something at a certain price then they honour the price, unless it's a genuine cock up on their part and they've put something worth

For those of you who are not happy with Play.Com, can I suggest that you maybe shop elsewhere as I use HMV and I am very very happy with the service I get.

Having said that there are sites such as Tesco's or even Woolworths.co.uk.
 
Play must have changed policy then, I haven't used them for about 3 or 4 months but every time I have used them (quite often) they've never taken payment up front.

I know this because I never have any money in the account when I place the order, and it's always gone through. In fact on the odd occasion I've forgotten to transfer the money in time I've had an e-mail from them the day before despatch complaining.
 
1-2 weeks means they usually do not carry stock and they will order it in as a special.
If its something they hold all the time and it simply runs out it will say "temporarily out of stock"



Play can make errors like anyone else.
But they do not take payment unless the item is in stock - unless you use your Playtrade funRAB.
It should say "packing " for no more than 24 hours.
Clearly your item is lost

I can't really see them being out of print, the 'Salo' Blu Ray only came out a few months ago. They're probably just waiting for the BFI to produce more copies. If it was OOP the details section would say "This Item Has Been Discontinued" and Amazon/Play wouldn't be listing a price. Also, if it was OOP the only place Amazon/Play would list to order it from would be one of the Amazon Marketplace/Play Trade retailers that still had it in stock.
 
It's funny how Amazon have suddenly dropped the prices too.Ill leave it to see which gets stock in first but hopefully the prices will stay the same. There is no mention of any kind of sale so hopefullly they are genuinely being reduced although you can imagine why for so long none of these blu rays were ever in a sale. Their the kind of films you go out of your way to buy but at just over a tenner their amazing value for money.

Fingers crossed i get it cheap :D
