I'm a 19 year old female, and since Friday, I've had a pain in my left arm. It started in the early afternoon on Friday, and was very slight. It was enough for me to feel it, but I didn't really think twice. It started getting more moderate through-out the evening, and it started moving around my elbow, and down the lower part of my arm through the pinky and thumb. It also started hurting through my shoulder.
It isn't the kind of pain like a muscle strain. It feels deep. It's not even a strong pain, it's more dull and throbbing. After a while, it becomes hard to concentrate on anything because of the pain, but at the same time, I'm not writhing because it's deeper and dull. It's really miserable but it really isn't enough to make me want to rush to the hospital. I'm not having chest pains, my arm isn't numb or tingling either... The pain actually comes and goes, but it mostly stays in the upper part of my arm, and moves around occasionally to my shoulder, elbow, lower arm, and hand. It seems to feel better when I am still, although it hasn't really completely gone away. I took advil yesterday and today, but I can't tell if that helps or if it just comes and goes.
If it makes any difference, I have pains through my lower back and upper legs that feels similar to this, although it too comes and goes and I'm not having pains with that right now. It doesn't exactly come with my period, but it does seem to come for a few days a month, so I always related it to PMS. <Why I haven't gone to the doctor for that pain. It too is miserable, dull, deeper and throbbing, and feels slightly better when I am lying down and still.
Also, I have a family history for heart disease, arthritis, high blood pressure, and diabetes. I've been a "border line diabetic" since I was about 11, but other than that, have had no other problems with any of those.
Is this a serious pain? Or has anyone had experience with this/have any answers or advice?
I plan to go to the doctor on Monday if I still have the pain. If it gets worse, I'll go to the ER, but I want to avoid that if it's not serious.
Thanks in advance!
