Question about organic chemistry class as a whole...?

I will be taking organic chemistry as a freshman at Vanderbilt University. I was able to do this because I have a strong background in general chemistry, as "demonstrated" by AP test scores.

The holistic consensus from everyone I have conversed with is that it is nearly impossible to score an A in organic chemistry. I want to know how true this rumor is and any tips for success. Detailed responses will be very much appreciated. Also, please tell me what grade you achieved and describe your intelligence level as quantitatively as possible. I want to ensure my success in the course, after all, I am very passionate about chemistry and do not desire failure to tamper with my zeal.

Thank you very much. Huzzahs and BEST ANSWER for the, well, best answer.
