Question about odd/even functions and reflections?

The problem says this:
Specify a sequence of transformations that will yield each graph of h from the graph of the function f(x) = sinx.

h(x) = -sin(x-1)

The answer is to move the original graph 1 right and reflect about the x-axis.
Why the x-axis, why not the y-axis? What is it about the negative sign that tells you to reflect it on the x-axis? Not sure I really get anyhting about odd/even functions.

Thanks!
