Last night, I finally tried nasal flooding and it helped. But I did have a couple of questions. I found the position kind of awkward. Has anyone ever done this lying on your back on a bed with your head hanging over the edge? That way, the nostrils are upside down and it

I am glad that it helped you. What type of results did you get? Did it sting?

I do about two sinus floodings per year. The last few times, I just bent my head down into the bathroom sink and then forcefully sprayed the mixture of diluted 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, baking soda and kosher salt into my nostrils. That seemed to work pretty good for me and it wasn't uncomfortable.

I use a pinch or two of baking soda, a pinch or two of kosher salt and one part peroxide to ten parts water, to fill up a standard, 1.5 oz previously emptied Saline Nasal Spray container. When I spray forcefully into one nostril, frequently it will come out of the other nostril.

I would normally spray the entire 1.5 ounces and then repeat with another 1.5 ounces.

I can't answer that question. The only problems that I had with the sinus flooding, I documented within the thread: New 'upside down sinus flooding' documentation, at the top of the Allergies Board.

I would think that the liquid could get into either the Frontal Sinus Cavities, or the Ethmoid Sinus Cavities a lot easier than it could get into the difficult to reach Maxillary Cavities. The Maxillary opening (ostium), is like an upside down V. Maxillary openings that have been widened through surgery might facilitate liquid reaching into the cavities. I don't know if having the Peroxide mixture getting into the Maxillary Sinuses would do more harm than good. I have no medical training or education. I can only say what I experienced.

Please carefully read the documentation, especially regarding the risk regarding fluid getting into the Eustachian Tubes and/or Middle Ear. Anyone considering a sinus flooding, with any liquid, should first check with a medical professional.

That said........ I first started doing Sinus Floodings with Peroxide back around 2001. I did it because I was sick and tired of getting multiple Sinus Infections every year. I suffered from chronic Sinus Infections for decades. One night, out of shear frustration and hopelessness, I bent my head down into my shower and flooded my nasal passages with a mixture of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and water. It was a stupid thing to try. It could have done a lot of damage. I had no idea if it was safe or not. Durab, huh?

I lucked out. I haven't had another sinus infection during the past 7, or so, years, and I never have to do any sinus floodings, or sinus irrigation. I am finally free of those damn sinus infections.

Let me know what you decide to do.

RegarRAB, and take care...............

I irrigate every morning over the sink. Cannot tell it's done a thing to prevent my sinus problems.

Irrigation has never helped me either, but sinus flooding with peroxide led to a cure for my sinusitis.

Back around 2002, in an act of great stupidity and recklessness, I flooded my sinuses with a diluted mixture of peroxide, baking soda and salt. It was very, VERY durab to do, but I was in misery and sinus pain and desperate because I was getting another painful, miserable sinus infection. I had just got over a sinus infection, and was getting another sinus infection and, once again, feeling miserable!

For many years, I would get a sinus infection, take a round of antibiotics, and then a couple of weeks, or months later, get another sinus infection. I thought that flooding my sinuses with Peroxide could kill my sinus infection. I was not totally correct, but it did lead to a cure for my chronic sinus infection problem.

I don't think that sinus irrigation is as effective as sinus flooding for chronic sinus infection problems, but irritation seems to help many sinus sufferers.

It all goes to show, once again, that One man's poison is another man's "pleasure". :)
