I hadn't ridden it all winter (it's a mountain bike), and I've been riding it every day to my friend's house to petsit while she's on vacation. I noticed that it would change gears by itself (it's got 21 speeds I think). It would be 2 on the left handlebar and 7 on the right, which is the perfect speed for me. I would hear it changing gears as I rode, and even when I put it on the highest setting, the hardest to pedal on, the pedals would still spin out of control. My neighbor tried to fix it and it seemed to be a little better with the gears changing by themselves, but now it makes this really annoying clicking noise when I pedal. I think the chain is rubbing against something, but I really don't know. The bike is about 7 years old.
