Question about my 1993 Honda Coolant System?

i have known for about 3 months now that my 93 accord has a hole in the reserve jug. (The off-white colored jug that holds antifreeze.) When i went to get an oil change the mechanic showed me that the fluid in the jug was boiling. However, the needle in the dash shows that the engine is NOT running hot. (i know the needle works because when the engine is cold, it drops, then rises when warm) The fans work when i turn the AC button on but im not sure if they come on by themselves when the AC isn't on. However i believe they do. My father told me that the antifreeze may be boiling because the jug has a hole in it and the antifreeze has nowhere to go...and also i checked the antifreeze in the main radiator part a few days ago (when it was cold) and it was full. So antifreeze is in there.

My question is: should i take it to a dealership to have it operated on?
or is my engine running at the proper temperature.
The ramifications of driving a car that has a hot engine include warped heads, probably gasket problems and a cracked block so it is important i get the correct answer.

P.S. Don't answer if you don't know anything about cars
Thanks
