Question about music software.

Certain programs, such as Cakewalk Music Creator 4, claim to be be able to emulate a wide variety of instruments. My question is, I need a keyboard to use this program, correct? See, I always thought it was the keyboard itself that emulated the instrumnets, but apparently it is done through the software???

I know this is very durab question. I'm not a musician, but would like to soon start dabbling with playing/recording sounRAB.

Thanks a lot!

There is really only 1 program I would ever use for that. Well maybe two, but only the second if the first was broken. Cakewalk SONAR Producer Edition 7 is a FANTASTIC program that has every emulator, mod, plugins, patch, or whatever you can ever think of. The reason i say it is better than the alternative Reason is because it has much more in the way of editing the actual recorded sound. Reason is fantastic though, and much simpler to use.

edit: And a little tip "look around" on the internet for it instead of rushing to a store. Producer Edition is A LOT of money. If you need help PM me.
