Question about multiplying decimals?

I know to figure out where you put the decimal in the product you add the number of decimal places in each number multiplied.

So 0.0064 x 0.5 = 0.0032.

But shouldn't it equal 0.00032 since 0.0064 has four decimal places and 0.5 has one decimal place = five decimal places? This doesn't make sense to me.
How come when I put it into my calculator it comes out as 0.0032?
