Question about iphone 3GS tethered

Hello..
my customer had iphone 3gs 3.1.2 tethered jailbroken by Blackra1n.
he wants to fix this..
what if i use spirit to rejailbreak it again?
does the tethered fix it?
or iphone goes into recovery mode?and need to update firmware?

i ask this to confirm this status,because last week i have encountered iphone 3gs 3.1.2 jailbroken with blackra1n,its hard for me to install the cydia using blackra1n because my net was to slow.so i decided to rejailbreak it using spirit,and the iphone goes to recovey mode.i tried to kick recovery mode using ireb but it did not fix it.

so i decided to update the firmware to ios 4.

is it happen if the iphone 3gs is new bootrom?or even is it old bootrom?

dont upgrade it to ios4, for safety purposes check in cydia if theres a back up of shsh..

if theres no back up, you can make it first, search forum on how to..

then after back up, you can update the firmware not in ios 4, you can try first in 3.1.3..

its safe in 3.1.3.

then use spirit..
