Question about international charges on my cell phone?

My friend called me from Australia, her phone is prepaid so she said she isnt charged for international calls. However, I don't have any sort of international calling plan. But I heard that people that receive the call aren't charged. I live in the US.
will i be charged for the call? how much would it be per minute for me to call her? i have AT&T service
