I have a 2002 Honda Accord EX Sedan. It has the 2.3 liter SOHC VTEC engine. I bought this car used with app 63,000 miles and nearly 4 years later it has almost 93,000. I have to say I absolutely love this car..... I love the way it looks, feels, and drives. I have instilled nothing but complete trust in this car. However, lately I've come across some other Accord owners who have told me that their cars have had to have their transmissions replaced. I know there is no such thing as a perfect car, but I just never realized that Hondas could be stricken with this problem. I've done some online research tonight and sure enough I've found some articles pertaining to early 2000's Accords and the high number of problems. I want to do everything I can to protect my car. It's due soon for an oil change and I'm going to ask the dealership if they can tell whether my car has any work done on the engine/transmission. In the meantime, could my driving habits influence my car? I don't race or anything extreme, but I do like to take advantage of the car's power and I tend to run it up to 50 mph in just a few seconds... but it does it so smoothly it seems like it's built for that. I don't know a thing about cars... so is this harmless behavior or do I need to let up on the lead foot?
