Question about History Channel?

I don't understand the History Channel. Today is a marathon on Nostradamus (or however you spell it), and all the shows contradict with each other, one is about the antichrist, one is about 2012, and others are about other "doomsday" predictions he made. Does anyone know why History Channel is obsessed with doomsday?
 
Well each episode is from a different history journalists point of view.I guess we are supposed to take a little from each and form our own conclusion.
