I currently have 5 male cherry barbs that are moving into a 12g tank as soon as its cycled. I was hoping to put a female betta in the tank too. Will they be compatible? Cherry barbs are supposed to be peaceful barbs but I've only had them in a tank by themselves so I don't know if that's true. If they are compatible should I get 1 female betta or 3? I read that you shouldn't have just 2. Either 1 or 3+. I know I may be pushing the limit on my tank but I am very vigilant on tank maintenance w/ weekly water changes & gravel vac etc.. My biggest concern is whether or not the 2 different breeds will fight and nip each other. Thanks for the advice.
