The overall economy tanked and companies that didn't prepare for it are also tanking - or at least they would be if they didn't get taxpayer bailouts. Poor decisions and poorer marketing and consumer demand predictions - drop the Camaro and produce Avalanches? Produce Hummers when gas hits almost $4 a gallon? Scrap the EV1 program?
