I currently own a 1987 Ford Thunderbird. It has a V8 and is a 4 cylinder, I believe. I am hoping that it does not get much mpg in the city or highway because I would like to trade it in for a new vehicle. The reason I don't want the mpg to be good is because of the "Cash For Clunkers" bill that has been passed. In order to be qualified for the trade in, your car that you are trading in cannot get over 18 mpg highway, I believe. Please help me. All I wanna know is, what is the mpg on it.
By the way, my car is all stock parts. There have been no modifications made to the car or it's engine.

v8 is 8 cylinders it cant be 8 and 4 at the same time.
to find out how much MPG you have to fill up the tank all the way.
then before you turn on your car after filling it up press the trip button so it can track how many miles you drive. (dont touch it after that)
drive it normally dont drive fast meaning dont hammer the throttle.
then when you are half way through your tank fill it up all the way again and check how many miles you traveled and how many gallons you filled it up with then divide them.
any questions e-mail me

"It has a V8 and is a 4 cylinder"
How is that possible?
V8 = 8 cylinders arranged in a V shape
Inline-4 = 4 cylinders.
V6= 6 cylinders
Inline-6 = 6 cylinders.

If it is the V8 version, which it most likely is since the Thunderbird does not have 4 cylinder engines as an option, it should average 17mpg or worse, which means it should be eligable for the Cash For Clunkers Program.

But $4500 is not guaranteed. They give you between $3000 and $4500.
And you must use that money towards a brand new car that gets 10mpg average better.
