Is 45 minutes out in the yard just as good or better as a 45 minute walk?
I enjoy walks with my dog but there just walks, my legs aren't in well enough shape for me to do anything besides power walk. I would like to take him out bike riding, but he's still in training and I don't trust him yet to run along side me on a bike (so we can't do that yet). I like to take him out in the yard to run laps, my backyard isn't to big but out there he's able to run full speed.
I'm not going to stop walking my dog, it's good for the both of us, physically and mentally. It's also good practice for training exercises with distractions.
When he's out in the yard he's running laps, not just walking around or hangin out.
I was just wondering if a few days out of the week I have him in the yard and walk him the rest of the week. Would the 45 minutes be just as good as those walks?
I do also take him to the dog park once a week or every two weeks. We also do training classes at pet store near by so he gets to interact with a lot of people and other dogs.
