Question about employers and criminal background checks (since my lawyer isn't...

...returning calls promptly)? In 2007, I was hanging out with a few friends (all three of which had 'less than reputable' professions). Cops raid the place and charge all four of us with the same crime (an A felony, mind you), even though I had nothing to do with the contraband present and wasn't doing anything illegal, other than simply being present.

I plead down to a misdemeanor for Visiting a common nuisance. This led to a pretrial diversion, for which I completed the requirements.

How much of this can potential employers see?

(only time I've been arrested)

They will be able to see the conviction and the offense. You need to be prepared to do AL LOT of explaining, because when you plead down, you are still admitting that you are guilty.

Your record will show a conviction for a misdemeanor. Pay attention to what the applications for employment ask. sometimes they simply ask for convictions of felonies...which in this case you don't have. If they ask for a conviction of a crime, then you have to list this.

When listing it on your application; should you have to, indicate that you were charged with a misdemeanor, however you complied with all necessaryrequirementss.

Best of luck to you!

They will be able to see that you were guilty of a misdemeanor for a common nuisance; I don't think they'll be able to see any more details than that.
