My work told me i was a danger to myself and others due to psychiatric medication I take. They said if I was going to work there I need to stop taking my medicine AND get paperwork sent to them from a Psychiatrist stating why I take it and stuff. They said even then though, I still am not allowed to take it before going to work or while at work because it makes me a dangerous person and that i could hurt myself and others. So I really had no choice but to quit; I cant just stop my medication. I feel forced out of a job. Is it really required to give my medical records released to my employer? Or for them to say I cant take my medicine if I want to keep my job? My family is outraged and feel its a violation of HIPAA laws and discrimination. Is it illegal for what they did?
