question about Digital TV converter box?

Can all Digital TV converter boxes (we have an Insignia NS-DXA1-APT) convert HDTV signals (in addition to SD) or are their special HD converter boxes? I am trying to make sure that I will be able to see HDTV channels on a new HD TV I am buying (with our current converter box).

A converter box converts from analog TV to digital TV only. Even though that digital TV signal carries high def content, it will not be high def when it comes out of the converter box. If you have or are buying a high def TV that doesn't have a tuner (a monitor), then you need to buy a HD tuner, not a converter box.
