we moved away from VA about a year ago. We moved to TX and received a letter in the mail today saying that our old landlords are garnishing my wages for 5177 dollars. We had no warning that this was going to happen if the garnishment happens it will put us in a hardship. Is it legal for them to garnish my check from another state when the state I reside in has laws against wage garnishment. Not to mention the fact that we have no idea what this garnishment is about?
