question about crickets upcoming droid phone.

Wow, I didn't even see a page on Cricket's website for it yet! Thanks for posting! :)

I've heard it's been made by Sanyo's division. Let's hope it's true. :)

Looks like it's going to require the $15 data plan. Still not bad if it's a bolt on feature and not some required $60 plan.

Leap is going to get skewered when their ARPU nurabers are released so it wouldn't surprise me if they require a $60 rate on these. Everything I've activated has been on the $40 rate and I don't know how many $60, $50, $45s I've downgraded to $40.

I don't know if it's worth paying the $15/month more for me.

I'd would be paying $55/month, plus tax, for this. Also, I need the $5 roaming for Verizon, so that would make it $60/month plus tax. That's too much for sure!

Where does it say it will require a 15 data plan all I see is "including required data bolt-on if applicable" it does not say a price or if it will be more then Mobile web included in some plans.

They need to make sure that this is competitive against Sprint's 69.99 Everything Data plan with Any Mobile, Anytime. If this comes in at $60 per month, is it really? Remeraber that most people are eligible for a 15% discount on their Sprint service through their bank, credit union, or employers which brings the price down to $59.49.

I think this phone and the Blackberry need to come in at around $50 per month, all-inclusive, in order to be competitive--particularly against the new Virgin Mobile plans.

Virgin is going to be a big competitor for Cricket with the Blackberry. Virgin offer the same phone for $299 on plans that include $35 for 300 voice minutes, $50 for 1,200 minutes, and Unlimited for $70 which all include unlimited text, e-mail, 3G data, and BlackBerry data service.

Boost has the older Blackberry 8830 with unlimited talk, text and web access for $50.

Also the Blackberry 8530 is Dual-Band only so it won't be available in Tri-Band markets

This is just my opinion, but the $15 add-on doesn't bother me. I have to pay $10 for my data package on verizon and I only get 25rab.. And for Blackberry it's and extra $30 or $45 on top of your voice plan. I don't know about you but I would say that the $15 add on is a good deal for a smartphone.

The Blackberry that Cricket is getting will be Tri-Band, that's part of the reason it took so long to get a Blackberry on Cricket. Cricket has said they won't release any phones that aren't Tri-band so they had to wait for RIM to make them a Tri-Band Blackberry.

As for Boost's Blackberry plan, it's $60/month. Cricket's $40/month plan plus the $15 HTML data add-on would be $55 but once you tack on taxes it would end up being more than $60/month (especially for me).

I'm not interested in the Blackberry anyway.
