Question about cost to repair rear left tie rod on Toyota Camry?

My rear left tie rod broke on my car. My gf's brother was going to fix it for me, he got the old one off and put the new one on, however the nuts that fasten on over where the new tie rod slid back on won't go back on. Not sure whether we stripped the threads when taking the old one off or whether we bent it but anyhow it won't go back on.

My gf's brother was going to try to get a die to rethread the bolt however he can't find the right piece. I'm now going to have to take it into a shop and just wanted to get an idea of what they will have to do now and how much they will charge me? It's a 2000 Toyota Camry.

I can't tell if you stripped it out or not by the picture, but that is the sleevee that you may have stripped out. They are not expensive to replace, about $20. I would just get a new one, or get one from a junk yard. You need to thread the new tie rod in to thesleevee before you attach the end with the boot to the car. I wouldn't take it to a machine shop. Also keep in mind you might have to get a front endalignmentt after the new tie rod is installed. They run $50-$100, shop around for the best price.
 
This job is a no-brainer. Go buy a new double threaded (right and left) hex center bolt before you totally screw up the threads on the fresh control arm. Your Toyota dealer should have them. Everything is metric on these cars.
