Question about Cellphone Chargers?

I got a question about said thing, why do they feel the need of having some BIG-ASS box that blocks easly 1 or 2 other outlets, If Im not explaining myself, try using google and look for "Cell phone charger" and you'll know exactly what Im talking about, this is not limited to Cell phone chargers tough.

Does it have something to do with the Wattage? power surge? just to be annoying? any explanation works
 
JUST TO BE ANNOYING! LOL JK but it must have something to do with needing to produce enough electricity b/c if they could make it smaller they would, because with it being bigger its just using more plastic for them, making it cost more to make for them
