My son, 10 years old, has his FAVORITE bright yellow NEXT bike with the foot pegs on the wheels so he can do tricks and wheelies and bounces, etc. He's really good for 10. The hand brakes don't function anymore and I told him it wasn't safe to ride in the neighborhood without the brakes. So I bought a cheap bike at walmart, all I could afford. The new bike has the breaks that you push the pedals backwards, this seems safer to me anyways. He just can't do all the tricks on this new bike. SO, I want to know is it possible to put the brake mechanism, I don't even know how it works, onto the old bike? The foot peg thingies on the old bike won't fit on the new bike, so I would have to use the old bikes screw things that go thru the wheels. Not sure if I can use the new wheels tho, the old bike has a bigger screw thingy, don't know if it would fit. See, I obviously don't know what I'm doing. Thinking of attempting this on my own. I do have tools!! Can I put the pedal brake thing onto the old bike and it will work? Doing these bike tricks is very imptortant to my son, I'm sure some of you can relate. Thanks for any help and all suggestions!
