Question about Brace

I am supposed to wear my brace at all times accept when I am laying down. It is stretchy in front, but hard plastic in the back. I am having such a hard time. My incision is so swollen and bumpy and, no matter how much padding I put between my back and the brace, it hurts like hell. It is rubbing against my incision. My incision is a lot puffier and bloodier looking than my first fusion incision. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am not wearing it constantly because it hurts so bad! I have to call in med refills tomorrow so I will talk to her about it tomorrow too. I know it is bad not to wear it, but I swear the pain is unbearable.

I hated the hard brace and my daughter made me wear it whenever I got up. I really feel I should of just worn it while walking which wasn't to bad and in the car which hurt. I should of taken the hard brace out when sitting down. It ended up brusing my tail bone(thats my opinion)and that hurt well after my back felt better. Now if I get out of line a bit I can still feel pain in my tailbone and it's been 2 1/2 years. Hurt the incision a lot too. Tried padding etc and nothing helped. Good luck!

What are you using to pad it? One gal on here who had her surgery about the time I did came up with a solution that worked like a charm for her. She used feminine paRAB! They're nice and soft and thick, and that enabled her to wear the brace. Hopefully as the swelling goes down, it will fit better and be much less painful.

A maxi pad is a great idea! I had actually thought of it, but I have none. I am strictly a tampon person. I have been using a nice soft washcloth which is helping, but I could still use more help. I might buy some and try it.
