We acquired some pond water in a jar and put a few grass twigs in the jar. We observed two drops of the water under a microscope to look for any organisms. The first day we rarely saw anything. But after 2 weeks, the same jar of water that had just been sitting in our class room now should LOTS of different organisms. The week after, there were more and more and sometimes new organisms.The question here is how would you explain the qualitative and quantitative changes in organisms in the jar at the end of the two weeks?
