Question about Amazon.com purchase

I bought an 8100 with new T-mobile service through amazon.com. About a day after receiving it, I added the insurance option while logged into my T-mo account online.

Now, just a few days after receiving the phone, I'm starting to get dust under the screen. Can I take it in to a T-mobile store and get it swapped out even though I bought it on amazon.com?

Thanks

Will your insurance even swap out for dust under the screen? Im asking because not all insurance covers something like that. Someone with TMO should be able to answer that better though.

Second, what if you get a refurbished unit, again someone with TMO insurance knowledge will be better there. The reason I ask because would you want to exchange for a refurb for only dust under the screen? You could take apart the BB and dust it out, or even your local store may be kind enough to do so.

I hope this helps until someone can verify...

You can not go to the t-mobile dirrect store for one reason you did not purchease it there, because you purcheased it from an indirect dealer such as amazon.com you must call them, and try and do an exchange before your 14 days are up.

The Corporate store will not do warrenty exchanges anyway they will require you to call 611 and process one through the phone.

That's what I figured.

Let me ask you another question just for clarification on my part. Since I do have insurance through T-Mobile, if it is ever lost or damaged (not warranty related), will T-mobile replace/exchange it, or do I still have to go through amazon. The reason I'm asking is if I still have to go through amazon, then the added money for insurance would be a waste on my part.

Thanks

the insurance is through a company that t-mobile uses called assurion. You pay the $5.99 a month and go through t-mobile, which will then go through that company.. so once you are past your 14 days with amazon.com you will not be doing business with them unless you purchease more products from them.

Thanks Andrew.

I haven't purchased a cell phone from amazon in over 6 or 7 years, and I wasn't exactly sure how everything works when buying from an indirect dealer.

Thanks for clearing that up for me
